Throughout the era of tech, we have been presented with hundreds of choices. Be it consoles, tablets, phones or anything else, there will always be a pro version, different storage options or another company making something similar and with all these choices, there are bound to be some failed attempts at something new. So to keep you in the know here are the Top Tech Fails you need to know!

The Red Ring of Death

While this may sound like a movie's title, this was actually an issue faced by many Xbox 360 owners. Around the On button of the Xbox 360 was a circle of LED lights. While this circle usually stayed green to show the console was on it could sometimes turn all red when you tried to turn on the Xbox. After this, the Xbox would stay in this state. The issue was actually caused by overheating and in the end, Microsoft spent over $1.5 Billion recalling the broken Xboxes.

The Xbox One

Staying on the topic of Xbox, in 2013 Microsoft released the Xbox One as the third Xbox and part of the eighth generation of gaming consoles. This was at the time when fitness gaming was at its peak. Nintendo had had huge success with the Wii fitness console while PlayStation developed the PSMove accessory. Before the Xbox One, Microsoft had also made a fitness accessory called the Kinect, for the Xbox 360. However, in contrast to Nintendo and PlayStations, which both had handheld fitness remotes, the Kinect was a camera which they said allowed more detection accuracy. So when the Xbox One was released Microsoft included with it a new Kinect which was now mandatory and came with each console. The issue was that the Kinect increased the price by about $100 making the new PlayStation 4 a much more affordable option.

PlayStation 5

In 2020 Sony released the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 as part of the ninth generation of consoles. The PS5 is a highly powerful console that can stand vertically or horizontally with vertical being the best looking. However, in 2022 long time PS5 users started experiencing issues with their consoles. This was caused when standing the console vertically and can cause the console to be broken internally.

The MacBook Pro Touchbar

In 2016 Apple released a new version of their MacBook called the MacBook Pro which included something new, the touch bar. The touch bar essentially replaced the top row of buttons on the keyboard with a small touch screen which could be used to press the buttons but also to type emojis, use sliders and so on. The problem was that people found the touch bar confusing with several poor reviews. By now there is only one MacBook still for sale that has the touch bar.
