Fall Guys Review

You may have heard of Fall Guys before as the goofy little race game by Mediatonic that was popular for all of a month in late 2020. But after Epic Games (the company famous for Fortnite) bought the Tonic group of games (including Mediatonic) Epic Games now owns Fall Guys and recently decided to revamp the game.

Gameplay

Fall Guys opens with a large menu split into 5 sections, the sections are Game, Events, Character, the Season and the Store.

You can select your game in the game section by pressing the game selector button and ticking the box of the type of game you want to play. Depending if any events are on, there may be some temporary gamemodes. Once you are back in the game section, press the begin button.

The game is split into rounds of different games. These games are either a race, a survival game or a puzzle (in normal gamemodes). The races are usually a map filled with different kinds of obstacles that you need to cross and get to the finish line before the other players. Survival usually involves the giant fan. In survival, you have to run around a giant ring to avoid being blown off by the giant fan. Puzzles usually involve having to find the right combination on tiles and if you get it wrong, you fall off. With most of the games, the way a round ends is usually how many people have been either eliminated or won. There is still a time limit but it's very long.

Events

Sometimes events are held in Fall Guys. These events usually add new gamemodes such as the yeetus maps from the yeetus clan trials. But most importantly events add event quests. These quests are tasks that you must complete before the event ends to win all the event prizes. The events also add new items to the shop.

Seasons

Like most games, Fall Guys has Season Events and quests. The quests work just like in any game; you must complete tasks through regular gameplay to win points and earn prizes. Each season also features a Season Pass to unlock premium rewards in the Season quests.

Shop and Costumes

Fall Guys features two different in-game currencies. They are Kudos and ShowBucks. Kudos is a less valuable currency that may only be obtained by winning prizes in events and seasonal quests. ShowBucks on the other hand can be bought with real money however, it is very hard to obtain through normal gameplay. Both of these currencies can be spent in the shop on cosmetics that can be applied to your character for some extra fun during your game.

Fall Guys is a great, fun and cute game to play. What makes it even better is that it was recently released on a lot more platforms for many more people to enjoy!

9.5/10
