Minecraft Dungeons is a new dungeon crawler style adventure-fighting game developed by the creators of the original Minecraft, Mojang Studios. However, while set in the Minecraft universe, Minecraft Dungeons is very different to the original game.
Storyline
The game opens with a wonderfully made cutscene depicting an illager wandering through the lands after being shunned by his people. He climbed a mountain in hope of finding a home and there he sees it, The Orb of Dominance sitting there. He approaches the orb and grabs hold of it.
With the orb and its power, he became the leader of the monsters. All must bow to him, all who do not bow will perish. He has great hatred for the villagers after they wronged him. He vows to destroy them all.
Gameplay
You start in Squid Coast, a burning village that has been pillaged by the illagers. Throughout this level, you learn how to attack and kill monsters and use your bow and sword. Once you complete the level, you set up camp just outside the village to prepare for your battles.
Once you complete the tutorial level, you unlock another level called Creeper Woods. This level includes rescuing villagers from the illagers and getting better tools. After Creeper Woods you unlock more levels to complete.
DLCs
Once you've completed all of the main levels there are the DLCs. These DLCs are themed islands you can buy (at the cost of €5 each unless you buy the ultimate edition) that contain three levels each (except the nether one which has 5). These DLCs serve as a continuation of the main story.
Season Adventures
After the last Minecraft Dungeons DLC came out, the team announced the beginning of the Dungeons Season Adventures. These adventures are themed events that last for about four months. They contain challenges that you can complete in order to win prizes such as skins, emotes, emeralds and more. There is also a season pass which allows you access to premium rewards.
Seasons also introduce the tower. The tower is a single-player quest that spawns you into a floor with nothing but a regular sword and bow. As you scale up the tower and fight more and more dangerous mobs you begin to get better loot you can take out the mobs more easily. The tower ends on level 30 with the boss mob.
Minecraft Dungeons definitely can't top the original Minecraft but it is an amazing game on its own with its unique levels, storylines and new mobs. My only problem with it is the Season Adventures and the introduction of new passes and cosmetics.
