Why Google is changing from Hangouts to Chat.

Google Hangouts is a chat and video calling service that was launched in 2013 by Google. However, after nearly nine years of operation, Google has announced that Google Hangouts will be ceasing operations in November and will be replaced by Google Chat.

Why is Google doing this?

In 2017, Google launched Google Chat, a messaging tool for Google Enterprise (now Google Workspace) customers. Google Chat brought along with it features such as group conversations, side-by-side editing in Docs, and communication within Google Spaces.

Google has stated that its reasons for migrating are better functionality, quicker access and security reasons.

How do I Migrate?

Migrating to Google Chat is very easy! Simply download Google Chat or go to https://chat.google.com. All of your saved contacts and previous conversations will already be there!
